WEIGELA Minor Black. \nA relatively recent introduction this compact deciduous shrub with handsome foliage borne on arching stems forms a low rounded hummock. \nDark and rich, the leaves on this dwarf Weigela open very deep purple almost black but as they mature they take on a bronze sheen. \nIn May and June this stunning dark background proves to be the perfect foil for a magnificent display of rose-pink tubular or funnel shaped flowers which are carried in small clusters. \nA prolific bloomer, Minor Black often carries a second but much smaller crop in late summer. \nNot fussy about growing conditions, any reasonable garden soil is fine but for best performance a rich slightly acidic soil is recommended. \nMinor Black prefers full sun but partial or dappled shade is acceptable however any site which becomes waterlogged should be avoided. \nGreat for attracting bees and other beneficial insects to the garden Weigela Minor Black has gained recognition as an RHS Perfect for Pollinators badge. \nWith a height and spread of approx. 75 cm this charming shrub is ideal for the front of a mixed border but is equally happy in a container on a sunny patio or it can also be used to great effect as a low hedge. \nWeigela Minor Black is easy to care for and any pruning needed should be carried out immediately after flowering has finished. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur plants of Weigela Minor Black are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions. \nAlba is only one of a number of Choice Varieties of this shrub that we offer. \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nPatrick and Caleb K have a for your new shrub. \nPlant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Weigela plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
