DDS Signal Generator Module Development Board - Output capability and performance - Produces two sine wave outputs and two square wave outputs. - Sine wave frequency range: 0 to 40 MHz on the AD9850 version. - Square wave frequency range: 0 to 1 MHz. - Harmonics increase and waveform becomes less pure beyond 20–30 MHz for the sine outputs. - A 70 MHz low-pass filter is used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. - Amplitude and duty cycle control - A pin to generate the DA reference enables easy adjustment of the output waveform amplitude. - The duty cycle of the square wave can be adjusted with a variable resistance. - Oscillator options and input interfaces - AD9850 version uses a 125 MHz active oscillator; AD9851 version uses a 30 MHz active oscillator. - The module supports both parallel and serial data input, using a single interface for configuration. - Physical size - Compact design with dimensions of 5 cm x 2.6 cm. Typical applications - RF and communications test bench: generate precise sine and square wave signals for transmitter/receiver evaluation and calibration. - Microcontroller, FPGA, or DSP development: provide versatile test signals for timing, modulation, and waveform generation with adjustable amplitude and duty cycle. - Laboratory signal source: compact platform for demonstrations, experiments, and educational demonstrations of DDS concepts. Notes - The sine waveform quality degrades as frequency approaches the upper limit (around 20–30 MHz) due to increasing harmonics; use the 70 MHz low-pass filter to improve SNR where applicable. - The device supports both AD9850 and AD9851 families, with corresponding oscillator frequencies and input options, while maintaining the same core features and interface.
