These magnesium anode rods are more effective than aluminum alternatives in protecting the tank from corrosion and extending its lifespan. By attracting impurities in the water, the anode rod sacrifices itself to protect the tank. If the rod becomes depleted or fully corroded, the water heater tank may begin to rust, crack, fail, and leak. These magnesium anode rods measure 4.5 inches (115mm) in length, 0.5 inch (13mm) in diameter, with 1/2-inch threads. Designed for easy installation and replacement. To drain the tank, unscrew the anode rod. If the rod is significantly corroded or worn, replace it with a new one. It is recommended to keep a spare on hand. Color: Silver.
